POSITION SUMMARY: Performs direct patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse; accurately and safely performs procedures for which she/he has the educational preparation. Demonstrates ability to organize work time effectively. The most important characteristic of the Nursing Assistant is a positive attitude and enthusiasm for change.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.

MINIMUM FIELD-OF-EXPERTISE: Completion of course for nursing assistants and/or currently enrolled as a student nurse in accredited school of nursing program or a graduate nurse awaiting New Graduate RN Program placement.Sufficient previous clinical experience (during training) in assigned areas.Basic computer knowledge and skill in the use of Microsoft Windows application.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: BLS-Healthcare provider - biennially. Current certification as Nurses Aide in the State of Hawaii if not a student nurse.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year experience: Acute hospital or clinical experience. Clerical background and knowledge, medical terminology.
