Registered Nurse – Newborn Nursery (Sisters ofCharityHospital): The Registered Nurse in the Newborn Nursery delivers direct patient care utilizing the Nursing Process to patients with obstetrical, neonatal or gynecologic health needs. He or she collaborates with other health professionals in coordinating patient care and

provides direction to other non-licensed personnel within the department.

 

REPORTS TO:Charge Nurse I/Nurse Manager

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: NONE

 

 SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (minimum)

 

Educational Requirements:

 

·         CurrentNew YorkStateNursing License.

·         BSN strongly preferred

·         Demonstrated clinical ability and excellent communication skills.

·         Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)

·         Current Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP)

·         Meets and is current and competent with allNew YorkStatelicensure requirements.

·         Not limited to Infection Control and Child Abuse mandatory reporting.

 
Experience Requirements:
·         A minimum of one-year clinical experience in a newborn nursery strongly preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

·         Demonstrated clinical ability.

·         Excellent communication skills.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (TECHNICAL/PHYSICAL):Physical activity includes: balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, repetitive motions and heavy work.
