Senior Manager, Business Consulting Services (BCS)

Organizational Objective/Purpose:

Schwab Advisor Services, a division of Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. is the leading provider of custody, trading, technology and practice management to registered independent advisory firms (RIAs). It provides access to sophisticated wealth-management services that help advisors attract and retain affluent clients, as well as profitably grow, compete and succeed in their business efforts. Schwab Advisor Services’ approximately 7,000 registered independent advisors manage $750 billion of assets in over 1.3 million accounts at Schwab.

BCS's purpose is to create and maintain a number of valued added Practice Management resources for our RIA clients to help them better manage the business and organizational issues they face. Our keys to success lie in creating highly relevant material, scaling our offer and helping to further develop the consulting expertise of our client facing employees. Our key client is the Advisor Services Sales and Relationship Management organization.

BCS currently offers a number of programs as part of Advisor Services strategy to support the needs of RIAs. These include the Schwab RIA annual Benchmarking study, immersive multi-week consulting programs* and education and training (Solutions Conferences, Schwab Advisory University, Compliance Newsletter, white papers, etc).

Brief Description of Role:

As a key contributor of the Schwab Advisor Services BCS organization, the Senior Manager will be responsible for developing and managing a suite of either existing practice management projects or those that are to be built. Successful programs require a team of people who work together cross-functionally on projects that require research and content development in a highly collaborative environment. Because we are trying to deliver innovative solutions, the candidate must be comfortable with a highly iterative process with many sources of input. The candidate must be comfortable with multiple projects and be a team player.

* The consulting programs are branded “Insight to Action.” The most recent program, called “Leveraging Centers of Influence”, is designed to help RIAs generate referrals from other professionals to spur growth. The program includes a 5 hour workshop led in partnership by BCS and Advisor Services Sales and is offered multiple times throughout the country. All programs include guidance and tools for a multi-week client consulting engagement intended create a customized strategy for the RIA. Additional topics include strategic planning, economic modeling/segmentation, referral generation, business transition planning, and technology integration).

This role often directs and partners with other group members, contractors, and business partners. Key business partners include the Business Consulting team, Sales, Compliance, AS Marketing, Field Marketing and Events.

Technical/Functional Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following capabilities:

* An understanding of sales support fundamentals
* Strong analytical problem solving skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to synthesize data, develop recommendations, influence partners and report on status
* Proven ability to work in a fast paced and a matrix environment
* A ‘can-do’, results-oriented approach to business, deliver work on budget and on time
* 7-10 years in a product or program management and development role
* Experience serving the financial services industry(preferred); A bias for action and the ability to overcome obstacles and successfully execute on multiple projects simultaneously
* Strong PowerPoint skills(required)
