The Chase Auto Finance (CAF) Data Management Program is a multi-year technology initiative to support CAF and enterprise data management processes addressing operational, financial, regulatory and analytical reporting requirements. The program includes the long term development of a strategic platform for CAF with data sourcing, data enrichment, analytical, monitoring and reporting capabilities. This platform will also integrate with cross-LOB efforts to create a single consolidated customer view. The CAF Data Management team is looking for a highly motivated and experienced physical data modeler with experience executing projects in data modeling and data architecture, to lead the definition of the physical data model needed to support the reporting and analytics requirements. This individual must have the skills to understand the logical data model as well as the business requirements. To ensure alignment with cross-LOB efforts, the logical model aligns with IBM's Banking Data Warehouse (BDW) model and so, familiarity with this model is essential. It is expected that this model will be extended to accommodate LOB-specific data requirements. The role is heavily collaborative, working closely with several internal business units as well as a firm-wide organization driving standards and best practices and the candidate will have several years experience working in client-focused roles. Deployment will be on a Teradata platform so experience with this technology is essential. Knowledgeability of financial products, particularly those in the retail segment, is highly desirable. As a Data Modeling Lead, you must be familiar with core data modeling concepts including 3 rd normal form, dimensional models, star and snowflake schemas, etc. and will have considerable experience successfully applying these concepts in the construction of data modeling solutions. Primary Responsibilities
  • Create of the physical data model with a data modeling tool like ERwin.
  • Modify the physical data model for efficient data access paths.
  • Generate and execute DDL to create databases, tables, and views.
  • Identify and create primary indexes, partitioned primary indexes, secondary indexes, join indexes, and all other needed indexes.
  • Identify and create associative tables, data constraints, and compression mechanisms where necessary.
  • Recommend and establish standards, guidelines, and procedures for design and maintenance.
  • Participate in data model review board discussions.
  • Participate in and support design reviews and code walkthroughs to ensure high quality deliverables.
  • Lead data architecture reviews, strategic technology direction, and best practice development efforts.
  • Cooperate closely with the project teams to produce realistic effort estimates, ensuring task completion within estimates, identifying and communicating variances as early as possible.
