Support/monitor the creation of the physical data models. Analyze content and quality of databases and provide data normalization approaches. Define database back-up, recovery and archiving strategy. Develop and implement standards for data naming and data base design. Work closely with the Information, Application and Technology leads on the various day-to-day development projects: Optimize queries during development. Propose optimal schema layout and implementation for the various development tasks. Develop SQL and PL/SQL where needed. In addition you will be working closely with the production DBAs to ensure proper performance and stability of the production system, make recommendations to improve system performance and stability.

You will work on key initiatives like table partitioning, database clustering (RAC), introduction of a reporting database, just to name a few. You are willing to take the lead for such initiatives, provide options and make recommendations. You are hands on contributing to the outcome and you do not shy away from optimizing a query that is embedded in Java code.
