Overview:
This is a Senior Earth Scientist position in the ETC (Energy Technology Company) Exploration and New Ventures Unit (ENVU), located in the Aberdeen Global Technology Center (GTC). Earth Scientists assigned to the Aberdeen GTC primarily support CUE (Chevron Upstream Europe) Appraisal and Development projects, but they also support ongoing activities in Africa, Latin America and Eurasia, including our many new gas shale opportunities in Europe. The occupant of this job will be the primary Structural Geologist for the Aberdeen/Oslo offices.

Position Details: Key Job Responsibilities for these positions:
• Structural Interpretation of fault frameworks, including seismic interpretation, framework validation and interfacing with reservoir modeling workflows
• Prospect generation and maturation, including integrated interpretation of seismic and well data, geophysical suppport to seismic acquisition/processing, support to earth model development, and well planning support
• Structural cross section construction, restoration and forward modeling in extensional (and possibly shortening) systems and the interaction of structure, stratigraphy and basin modeling
• Understanding of basic principles of trap and seal analysis as applied to exploration and development, including juxtaposition analysis and reservoir compartmentalization
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
• Expertise and experience as a Structural Geologist - Requires expertise in structural restoration/forward modeling, fault framework interpretation/validation and the application of these skills to exploration, development and production
• Understanding of basic principles of trap and seal analysis as applied to exploration and development, including juxtaposition analysis and reservoir compartmentalization
• Ability to interact effectively with the Houston Based Seal team on these issues
• Strong 2D and 3D seismic interpretation skills
• Experienced integrator of seismic, well and other data at field/prospect and basin scales
• Good knowledge of ERT and RAM processes, and experience in preparing/delivering presentations for required workshops and reviews
• Because the position supports a variety of project-types, experience in Exploration, Appraisal, and MCP/Development projects is preferred
• Essential to be able to work with and communicate in a tactful and effective manner with Business Unit partners, technical staff and R&D staff in ETC
• Activity in Chevron Technical Networks and existing personal network in the OPCOs is very desirable
• Must be able to effectively teach (formally and informally) structural geology and related concepts within Chevron (teaching load about 2-3 weeks per year)
