Qualifications General Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year clinical experience required. Pediatric or subspecialty experience preferred. Basic computer skills required. Excellent customer service and communication skills with hospital/clinic staff, children, parents and visitors. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize tasks in a fast paced setting. Excellent written and verbal communication. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Required Education/Field of Study: Bachelor or higher in Nursing. New Graduate Nurse Residency graduation certificate must be presented for internal promotion from Children’s Colorado CNI to CNII. Required License/Certification - Advanced Life Support AND/OR other Certification(s) for specific roles may be required within 6 months of hire. Weight Lifted/Force Exerted: Up to 100 pounds: Up to 1/3 of time Job Overview The nursing positions in the Operating Room (OR) department are responsible for the following: direct care of the surgical patient, patient/family teaching and support, telephone communications with parents, managing patient flow, checking patients for accurate and complete admissions, caring for patients during procedures, assisting with procedures, anesthesia, ordering and obtaining supplies, and coordinating patient care with other departments. The patient populations served are children with a variety of surgical needs from the following services: general pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, cardiac surgery, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, transplant, and interventional surgery/procedures requiring general anesthesia. Additional Information Department: Operating Room Hours per week: 36, eligible for benefits Shift: 12 hour night shifts 1900-0730 Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
