Qualifications General Work Experience: 3-5 years clinical experience required. Pediatric or subspecialty experience required. Basic computer skills required. Excellent customer service and communication skills with hospital/clinic staff, children, parents and visitors. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize tasks in a fast paced setting. Excellent written and verbal communication. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Required Education/Field of Study: Graduate of an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science, which may be waived in lieu of enrollment in an accredited BSN program within one year of accepting the position and BSN degree completion within a period of three years. Required License/Certification - BLS for Healthcare Providers / CPR Required License/Certification - Registered Nurse Required License/Certification: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and/or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) in specific departments. Weight Lifted/Force Exerted: Up to 100 pounds: Up to 1/3 of time Weight Lifted/Force Exerted: Up to 25 pounds: 1/3 or more of time Weight Lifted/Force Exerted: Up to 50 pounds: Up to 1/3 of time Job Overview Carries out direct and indirect patient care responsibilities within the designated program that has predominant shift requirements with emphasis on independent decision-making, problem solving, and leadership skills. Demonstrates the ability to provide direction for designated department personnel in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating nursing activities / patient care throughout the shift. Provides nursing leadership in managing department staffing, patient flow and personnel issues throughout the shift. Collaborates with the Clinical Manager/Director in promoting customer-focused delivery of service, mentoring of staff and achieving departmental and organizational initiatives through leadership of activities at the departmental level. Demonstrates a commitment to self-directed personal, departmental and organizational growth based on professional and educational activities, participation in organizational committees, and committment to department/organizational financial viability. Demonstrates expert knowledge of staff management by appropriately managing staffing assignments, unit ratios and other resources to achieve department expectations for patient care. Demonstrates expert leadership qualities by creates a worker-friendly environment that continually develops and fully realizes the potential of the department workforce. Demonstrates knowledge of unit/department/clinic specific responsibilities for care delivery, organizational skills, to include prioritization and time management of patient flow. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of departmental, divisional and organizational goals by participating in the quality improvement/research activities including problem identification, data collection and monitoring department/division results. Supports and develops staff clinical abilities through the demonstration and provision of excellent clinical, family-centered and direct care to children with complex health care needs.
