Qualifications General Work Experience: Minimum 5 years clinical experience required; pediatric nursing and/or healthcare operations experience preferred. Basic computer skills required. Excellent customer service and communication skills with hospital/clinic staff, children, parents and visitors. Knowledge of medical/clinical operations, collaborative practice models, and budget management required. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize tasks in a fast paced setting with excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to work independently and as a team member required. Preferred Education/Field of Study: Master of Science in Nursing or a healthcare related field. Required Education/Field of Study - Bachelor of Science in Nursing Required License/Certification - ANCC or Magnet Approved Certification; specialty certification if appropriate. Required License/Certification - BLS for Healthcare Providers / CPR Required License/Certification - Registered Nurse Required Membership: Membership in a professional nursing or health care organization. Proficient in SAMA training preferred. Others: Occupational Hazards - exposure to unsteady or falling patient: In the course of transferring a patient, may encounter a patient who falls or loses balance, causing employee to fall and/or bear the full weight of a patient Weight Lifted/Force Exerted: Up to 100 pounds: Up to 1/3 of time Job Overview The Clinical Manager position is responsible for managing nursing/clinical care in a direct patient care department setting. Carries out direct and indirect patient care responsibilities within a specific department with emphasis on independent decision-making and leadership skills. Demonstrates the ability to provide consistent direction for designated nursing/clinical personnel in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating nursing/clinical/departmental activities. Provides nursing leadership in managing department staffing, family focused services and personnel issues. Collaborates with organizational leaders in promoting customer focused delivery of service, compliance with all regulatory standards, hospital policies/procedures and quality/patient safety standards, and achieving departmental and organizational initiatives in a fiscally responsible manner. Demonstrates knowledge of unit specific responsibilities for care delivery, organizational skills, to include prioritization and time management of patient flow. Develops individual goals and initiates own evaluation within department to enhance clinical practice and professional growth by assuming a leadership role in clinical education and the evaluation and communication of committee goals and outcomes. Financial Management: Understands, manages and communicates overall TCH and departmental financial responsibilities and goals. Leadership: Manager continuously strives to improve clinical, educational, research, and advocacy programs in department; sets and models high performance standards that empower staff to achieve agreed upon outcomes. People Management/Development: Creates a worker-friendly environment that develops and realizes the full potential of the workforce. Service Management: Manages staff and other resources to achieve department expectations for patient care. Utilizes evidence-based practice to direct the development, revision and evaluation of policies, procedures and guidelines for practice. Encourages clinically-based research projects to evaluate practice outcomes. Evaluates effectiveness of committee structure, purpose and outcomes within and across disciplines. Mentors staff in creating/evaluating projects focused on improving clinical practice and recommending changes. Utilizes expert evidence-based practice to provide clinical expertise to the healthcare team in coordinating developmentally appropriate care and evaluating outcomes for infants and children with complex health care needs. Provides clinical follow up when desired outcomes are not achieved. Additional Information Department: Inpatient Psychiatric Services Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
