Description

Project Name:

BVOIP / FLEX / IPTF

Project Description:

VoAVPN is a complex service that is critical to our business customers. The development of the service required knowledge of existing BVoIP services, existing MIS/PNT service features, and existing AVPN service features in order to leverage the existing processes and system functionalities that have already been developed.

Over the last three years the Tier1 systems engineers have worked with Product Management, Sales users, Service Delivery users, Service Assurance users, network architects, CPE architects, system architects, third-party vendors, systems engineers for the SD, SA and Billing applications, developers, program/project managers, and testers to define the VoAVPN Service.

Job Description:

BVOIP Tier1 systems engineers work to put together the end-to-end process and system flows for Sales, Service Delivery, Service Assurance, Reporting and Performance Management.

BVoIP Tier I support development on PMO platform and migration to ASAP/FMO platform. BVoIP Tier I support New, Addendum, MACD, Replacement and Renewal Contract Activity.

This service is unique in that it is the first service being offered on a platform that submits provisioning requests for multiple sites in one order. The Tier 1 SEs worked with users to define the requirements, worked with tier2/tier3 systems engineers and developers to define the end-to-end flows to support Sales/Contracting, Billing, Invoice, Ordering, Provisioning, Maintenance, Reporting, external user interfaces, system test, and User Acceptance Test.

BVOIP Tier 1 SE s also work on detailed requirements and interface requirements between applications. The complexity of VoAVPN service is the all-encompassing impacts of a service that impacts multiple existing services, BVoIP services on MIS/PNT and AVPN service.

Another challenge is defining the requirements that meet the users requirements with the existing limitations of the Telecommunication applications, while maintaining the schedule and funding requirements.

The BVoIP development work has been leveraged and utilized by other Product services including AVPN, Optewan, Cloud, UC, APM, MRS, SNG, M-Health and SBS.

Summary of skills/knowledge required for future VoAVPN releases given the accelerate schedules:

Require knowledge of BVoIP and AVPN transport

VoAVPN development impacts the following projects/services:

BVoIP on MIS/PNT, Transport Agnostic Services, AVPN Transport Service

VoAVPN has combined the AVPN and BVoIP flows.

Existing tier 1s have the history and knowledge since the beginning of the VoAVPN project that cannot be replaced. They are the only systems engineers with the end-to-end knowledge.

Existing tier1s have had an excellent working relationship with Product Management and users since the beginning of the VoAVPN project.
