This position is specialized athletic recreational work coaching a competitive youth swim team. The swim coach is responsible for the development of swimmers by successful teaching of competitive swim strokes through direct coaching and training of swim team members and assistant coaches, and will assist in planning, designing, and implementing aquatics related programs and special events at City of Columbia swimming pools.
Qualifications
Graduation from high school, vocational school, or GED with five (5) years work experience in aquatic teaching, coordinating fitness, recreational activities which include knowledge of exercise principles, health risks, aquatic lessons and exercise class design.
Special Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid SC Class "D" Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record. Must possess and maintain current First Aid, CPR for Professional Rescuer and Swim Coach certification from American Red Cross or other nationally recognized certifying agency. Must have excellent communication, motivational and organizational skills.
