1. Provides leadership to other project managers to achieve their safety, quality, cost and schedule targets
2. Interacts with management and site “customer” groups to establish and define requirements for assigned facility, utility, packaging, and manufacturing projects.
3. Develop conceptual designs, preliminary budgets and schedules for assigned projects.
4. Assist project sponsors with the preparation of Capital Project Appropriation requests (CPAs) for assigned projects. CPAs to include project description, justification, cost estimates, budgets, schedule, analysis of alternatives and other required information.
5. Provide or arrange for development of complete design documentation for assigned projects. Select, manage and coordinate the efforts of design consultants and firms as appropriate.
6. Develop “Request for Proposal” documents for design services, construction services and major equipment items as appropriate.
7. Manage and coordinate (with site customers, employees and other personnel) the efforts of construction management, general or trade sub-contractors to ensure the successful (i.e. safe, timely, high quality, cost effective, legal) implementation of assigned projects.
8. Administer, resolve, and control all design, construction, contractual and financial issues on assigned projects.
9. Ensure frequent communication and conducts regularly scheduled meetings between Project Team and other stakeholders.
10. Ensure that all applicable local, state and federal regulatory requirements are met on assigned projects. Coordinates all activities with building departments/inspectors.
11. Completes assigned projects by starting-up and checking-out all new equipment and systems, inspecting construction, developing and ensuring complete resolution of “punch list” items.
12. Maintain technical skills in the latest techniques for project management and engineering technology as applied to facilities and equipment design, construction and plant operation
Computer Systems: MS Office, MS Project, SAP
Educational and Professional Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Engineering or Construction Management, MBA is highly desirable
2. 10+ years biologics production facilities project management required
3. Experience in a pharmaceutical / FDA-regulated manufacturing environment. A working knowledge of cGMP and facility/equipment verification requirements
4. Understanding and adherence to the Project Management Lifecycle, managing projects in all phases
5. PE & PMP certification preferred but not required
