Indirect Tax Manager

The Indirect Tax Manager is responsible for compliance, planning, and audits for sales and use tax and personal property tax and will assist with the development and implementation of tax strategies, policies and procedures.  This position reports to the Director of Tax.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

·         Manage the sales and use tax team to ensure that all state and local returns and payments are filed timely and accurately

·         Monitor and alternate state compliance schedules to ensure continued development of staff

·         Monitor changes in state and local tax legislation and rates, incorporate changes timely into monthly procedures, and analyze impact to business

·         Manage state audits, including maintaining relationship with state tax auditors, defending the Company's tax return positions and fighting for diminished tax assessments or refund claims

·         Manage personal property tax deadlines and ensure that fixed asset information is analyzed for diminished tax basis opportunities.  Ensure that information is provided to paid preparer in a punctual manner and ensure that all bills received are reviewed and paid prior to due date

·         Manage receipt and response of tax notices and assessments.  Coach the team to respond verbally or via written communication in a manner to diminish tax assessments

·         Manage completion of monthly accounting responsibilities, including completion of sales tax payable reconciliation

·         Adhere to policies and procedures to ensure proper filing of tax returns and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and respond to document requests during periodic internal SOX testing

·         Utilize expertise to facilitate strategic tax planning, achievement of business objectives, and suggestions for tax saving opportunities

·         Support Coinstar and redbox Tax Management with technical review and strategy for various business initiatives and transactions

·         Coach, train and develop staff to increase their abilities to perform at outstanding levels, perform on their own, and think outside of the box

·         Balance external deadlines with organizational demands

Qualifications Experience:

·         Bachelor's degree Accounting, Finance or related field required; Masters in Tax,  JD or CPA preferred

·         6 years progressive experience in public accounting or internal tax department including multistate audits, compliance, and planning

·         Prior supervisory experience and ability to manage and develop staff

·         Mastery of techniques, practices, and theories of sales and use taxation

·         Willingness to assume responsibility for key projects

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills with high attention to detail

·         Proficiency in Microsoft products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
