This position is funded from the Commonwealth's annual operating budget.Duties:
Provide programmatic direct care services and supports to individuals with intellectual disabilities; assist in the implementation of habilitative, behavioral and recreational programs; perform crisis intervention; perform program related cooking and housekeeping duties; maintain confidential records of the individuals; attend individuals review meetings; accompany individuals to various appointments; provide leisure activities to individuals; assist individuals in meeting his/her personal care and nutritional needs; assist and support individual in making choices in his/her life; maintain individual�s human rights by complying with applicable laws and regulations; may drive individuals to work, appointments, and recreational outings; and perform related duties as required. The basic purpose of this work is to provide direct care services to individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Must have a valid driver's license.

Special Requirements:

Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

Based on assignment, must be certified in the administration of medication under M.G.L. c. 19B, ss. 1, 13, and 14, and M.G.L. c. 2 and 17 to dispense medication.

THIS IS AN OPEN AND CONTINUOUS POSTING. The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) fills this entry level position on an ongoing basis as staff turnover and new program development occurs. Full and part time positions may be available on various shifts. Most vacancies require working every weekend with two days off in the middle of the week. Applicants must be flexible in work schedule.

All external applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment medical exam and a strength/dexterity test.

All applicants are required to have a valid driver's license.

This position is designated as an "EMERGENCY" position in the Department of Developmental Services Emergency Plan. This means that whenever the Governor declares that the Commonwealth is in a state of emergency, you will be required to report to work.
This is a 24 hour/7 days a week staff position. The Department of Developmental Services requires employees in this position to be able to perform mandatory overtime when circumstances dictate the need.
ALL EMPLOYEES ARE PAID ON A BI-WEEKLY BASIS AND MUST HAVE DIRECT DEPOSIT.
