Title: Chaplain - Thursday Nights - In House On Call - PRN
Location: AL-Birmingham
Serves as after hours on-call chaplain (Thursday nights). May occasionally fill other pick-up shifts if assigned or desired. The chaplain stays overnight at our hospital campus in the On-Call suite. Provides crisis and pastoral care support to patients, families, and staff. Primary role is responding to evening/night/weekend critical care paging. Provides rounds on critical care units, surgery holding, etc. Visits and ministers to patients as needed or requested. Assists patients, families, staff and others to deal with life crises such as death, grief and loss.

Education:

Masters of Divinity or Pastoral Counseling from an accredited seminary; and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; Clinical pastoral education (CPE) from an ACPE accredited center. One year residency or greater preferred.
Experience:

Experience beyond student training is expected. Displays competencies in pastoral care and counseling: Assists persons to utilize their faith as a resource in dealing with illness, trauma and stress. Able to assess patient, family staff spiritual/emotional needs. Ability to facilitate group process; ability to work with the various age groups of patients served by the medical center.
Licenses/Certificates:

*
Completion of clinical training in Chaplaincy from an accredited center for Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). Must be ordained. Denominational endorsement by a recognized faith group. Certified by, or eligible for professional certification from an appropriate clinical pastoral agency.
