Description
Title: Obstetrical Technician
Location: TN-Jackson (Western Tennessee)
The Obstetrical Technician, under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse, is responsible for the delivery of certain elements of patient care, including assisting patients with activities of daily living and maintaining a safe and clean environment. The Obstetrical Technician also performs the technical skills and procedures necessary for providing required instruments and varying aspects of patient care activities during the surgical procedure, pre-operatively, intra-operatively, and post-operatively. Patient care is provided through the implementation of philosophies, goals and standards of practice of the Department of Nursing and the facility. Completes other duties as assigned.

Patient Safety/Risk Management - Understands the importance of patient safety and actively participates in safe practices. Identifies and reports actual events and potentially hazardous situations as outlines in hospital procedures. Uses safe practices to take action when necessary to protect the health and well being of patients, visitor and/or coworkers. Works collaboratively to find ways of safeguarding patients, visitors and/or coworkers. For positions with age specific competencies, must be able to identify and implement appropriate safety measures for all ages of patient services.

Education:

High School diploma or GED

Experience:

* One year of Surgical Technician experience or has recently completed Surgical Technician certification training program.
* Completion of clinicals during Surgical Technology Certification training program.
* One year previous Surgical Technician experience preferred.
Certifications:

* Certification from AST required within one year of employment.
* Previous health care Nursing Assistant experience is preferred.
* CPR certification required and NRP required after orientation.
* N.R.P. Certification upon hire or within 6 months from date of employment.Primary Locaiton: TN-Jackson (Western Tennessee)
