DescriptionTitle: Patient Accounts Rep
Location: OK-Oklahoma City Schedules patient and other appointments and meetings; calls and sends reminders about patient appointments; checkspatients in and out; refers patients to other resources; takes messages and processes incoming and returned mail, faxesand laboratory letters; constructs, breaks down, pulls and files patient charts; confirms patient appointments; enters andbalances daily charges and cash receipts; updates and closes daily business; posts payments; assigns codes; follows uppatient insurance issues; sends patient statements; and copies medical records. Verifies patient insurance coverage andbenefits and processes insurance claims; administers patient accounts and clinic financial and collection processes;retrieves and processes fast claim and fast bill reports; answers questions about patient accounts and insurance; writesclinic accounting policies and procedures; trains clinic employees; fills in for other clinic positions as needed. Administersthe collections process including auditing, researching, analyzing and appealing accounts, and resolving issues;communicates with payors and patients regarding accounts; documents account activity and maintains accounts records;performs related patient accounting activities, as needed. Administers patient accounts including resolving 150 dayaccounts, verifying credits and status of accounts, troubleshooting accounts, auditing accounts for accuracy, respondingto questions about patient accounts, and serving as a liaison with other hospital departments concerning patient accountissues; sends claims to insurance companies for processing; serves as a cashier; takes and prepares meeting minutes;and trains and coaches accounts employees. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required Experience: One year of office experience in a medical setting is preferred. Knowledge of medical insurance products and terminology strongly desired. Communication skills are a must/plus, incumbent must be able to perform basic accounting skills and be able to work independently. Familiarity with software packages and navigation techniques. Experience: Must have at least one year of hospital/clinic billing experience. Must demonstrate a working knowledge of ICD-9 coding, HCPCS, CPT experience. Cerified Coder, preferred.
