Description
Title: Surgical Services Director
Location: IL-Blue Island
JOB SUMMARY:

Twenty-four hour accountability for directing and managing Surgical Services (Operating Rooms, Recovery Room, Endoscopies, Anesthesia, Central Services, Same Day Surgery) in accordance with the policies and objectives developed in concert with the hospital's administration, medical staff, as well as in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Maintains primary responsibility for the development of unit-based policy and procedure development, budget preparation and administration, unit staff personnel decisions, customer service/quality, and continuous quality improvement activities. Works with medical staff and other directors in the development of effective patient care systems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Minimum Education/Training:

Graduation from an accreditedSchoolofNursing. A level of knowledge of professional nursing practice normally acquired through a bachelor's level college program in nursing and management acquired through continuing education in management. Master's level college program in nursing is preferred.

Minimum Work Experience:

Three (3) to four (4) years of progressively more responsible clinical work experience in a pre-operative, perioperative and postoperative Surgical Service area(s), including experience in management functions relating to the Director role, such as goal setting, staff development activities and the like.

License/Registration/Certification:

Current license to practice in the State ofIllinois.

Analytical Skills Required:

The job requires the ability to direct the twenty-four hour operation multiple Surgical Services; the ability to ensure that unit operation comply with Nursing and Hospital policies and goals; and the ability to ensure the efficient interface of assigned nursing unit within the Nursing Division and with other Hospital departments. The ability to develop a budget and monitor unit operations within agreed budgetary constraints.
