Location: TN-Franklin (Nashville Region)
THE OPPORTUNITY

The VP of Hospital Strategic Consulting is responsible for the development, management, leadership and coaching of QHR’s Strategic Consulting practice. This position focuses on providing strategic advice to healthcare clients, achieving revenue targets through marketing and business development activities, and creating strategic business consulting opportunities aimed at growing profitable market share for the Strategic Consulting practice.Strategy experience in a hospital setting in a consulting role is a must. Must be able to direct sell to new clients as 75% of the role requires, as well as grow existing business.Other responsibilities include but are not limited to development of quality client presentations, enhanced executive relationships between the client and the company, assessing resource needs and implementing timelines. The VP, QHR Strategic Consulting will serve as the primary point of contact for external and potential clients in the areas of strategy and strategic decision facilitation. Also directs Strategic Consulting associates to develop methodologies for consulting process improvement.

SCOPE OF POSITION

The VP, QHR Strategic Consulting position is responsible for business development, client engagement management, thought leadership, market presence, and team-building/leadership of Strategic Consultants. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working with other consultant practices and company business units to develop or support business opportunities.

Business Development:

*
Develop a sales strategy that identifies targeted accounts, account planning, proposal development, proposal delivery, and processes for closing the deal. Responsible for conducting follow-up calls and visits as required for maximizing a strong close ratio.
Client Engagement Management:

*
Build, develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients at the C suite level. Develop and offer services that reflect an understanding of a client’s unique business needs and offer client market specific solutions that are measurable. Engagements will address a wide range of strategy and business planning issues that may include strategy sessions, strategic planning, and evaluation of new market opportunities, product/service assessments, merger/affiliation evaluations and facilitation of strategic decision making with clients.
Thought Leadership:

Provide thought leadership to deepen and expand the company product offerings and client solutions. Assist the company in efforts to strengthen market presence. Support and contribute to the development of intellectual capital for the company.
Personnel Management:

*
Responsible for project management oversight, supervision, leadership, and building of a team of consultants who deliver the project work in this consulting area. Consultants will include a mix of independent contractors as well as employed subject matter experts as business needs dictate. Responsible for contributing to employee performance appraisals or annual contract employee reviews.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

*
Knowledge and experience leading operational strategy development, implementation, and strategic decision-making consulting engagements with hospital and health system clients.
*
Strong market and financial analytical skills regarding the business needs of hospital and health system operations including major product/service lines.
*
Experience and knowledge of strategic planning model/process, physician hospital relationship dynamics and evaluative criteria for merger and affiliations of hospital/health systems.
*
Excellent written, verbal, interviewing and facilitation skills are required as well as strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
*
Intermediate computer literacy skills including the use of Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
*
Strong leadership, teambuilding and collaboration skills with the ability to influence and persuade others. Problem solving skills and abilities.
*
Knowledge and application of research resources, project management skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
*
Conceptual skills with the capacity to structure and oversee complex strategy/strategic decision-making engagements.
EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

*
Master Degree (MBA, MHA, or equivalent).
*
Minimum of 10 years prior work experience in the healthcare industry with skills in strategic planning, group facilitation, market analysis and hospital/physician relationships.
*
Previous professional level experience with a consulting firm as a Partner or Senior Manager/VP level in the areas of strategy, planning and/or consulting services required.
*
Record of progressive business development achievement and client relationship management required.
*
Management/supervisory experience of professional level positions is required, preferably in the areas strategy, planning and/or consulting services on a regional and national basis.
*
Previous sales experience a plus.
*
Extensive Travel required, possibly including weekends (75%).
