Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The System Administrator III (Senior) reports to the Application Delivery Manager and is responsible for maintaining critical systems to ensure reliability and optimization to the business and its customers.  Responsibilities include systems design, migration of applications, troubleshooting complex issues, application installation and configuration, and solution research.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Major activities involved in the work performed.
* Researches, recommends, and implements changes to applications and systems
* Ensures stability and performance of applications
* Ensure the management of implementations of new software releases and upgrades
* Performs pro-active capacity planning, including short-term and long-term trend analysis
* Perform time-management and multi-tasking activities, balancing daily project work while simultaneously supporting existing applications
* Must be self-motivated, independent and resourceful
* Must have the capacity to be decisive and flexible
* Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills
* Possess superior communications skills verbally and written
* Collaborate with Product/Project Managers in analyzing operational procedures, identifying issues and recommending solutions
* Must gain complete understanding of each application, its usage, technical structure and functionally experience with complex system environments, including multiple locations and companies integrated environment
Required Skills

 

JOB-RELATED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

 

* UNIX (Solaris) and/or  Red Hat Linux
* SQL scripting
* Solid knowledge of Database administration - exposure to Oracle is a plus
* Shell scripting and demonstrable experience automating complex tasks
* JEE Application server design, administration and configuration – WebLogic, GlassFish, etc
* Web server administration and configuration
* LDAP
* Hands on experience with Virtualization technologies – XEN, VMware, Solaris Containers, etc
* Application access control (i.e. SiteMinder)
* SOA/Web Service/EAI knowledge – knowledge of Java CAPS is a plus
* Understanding of networking, servers, and storage
* Performance analysis and tuning
* Experience with healthcare, workers compensation, or outcome assurance
* Understanding of strategic business systems:
 

Required Experience

 

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor Degree in Computer or Healthcare field or equivalent experience
Applicable Technical Certification and/or training

JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE:

5+ years application and system administration
Experience in evaluation, selection, and implementation of application software
