JOB SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision of an Occupational Therapist provides rehabilitative services to individuals with mental, physical, emotional, or developmental impairments in accordance with Concentra Medical Centers’ Injury Process Management and Concentra Medical Centers’ philosophy of rehabilitation in occupational medicine.  

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical Responsibilities(Process Management / Content Management skills)

* Documents treatment plan provided in the therapy chart per documentation guidelines. 
* Ensures that other treating medical professionals have the necessary information to appropriately evaluate the patient's functional ability:
* Documents treatment plans according to guidelines.
* Assists Occupational Therapist in providing full evaluations and patient’s   progress to the referring physican.
* Provides complete documentation of the functional ability, activities and progress of the patient.
* Communicates with the Occupational Therapist  regarding patients and discusses appropriate diagnoses for referral to therapy as well as advances in the field.
* Communicates with the therapy patients, setting expectations for return-to-work and emphasizing education and motivation for compliance with the established treatment plan.
* Develops knowledge of  best demonstrated practices and specific quality indicators to measure and improve them.
* Coordinates with the Occupational Therapist in communicating with employers concerning specific rehabilitation issues of injured employees as indicated and meets with employers to discuss Concentration's early intervention philosophy.
* Coordinates with Occupational Therapist  to keep missed appointment rates within acceptable ranges
Business / Financial Responsibilities

* Assists the Occupational Therapist with the evaluation of capital equipment and staff needed fulfill its rehabilitation responsibilities.  
* Assist the Occupational Therapist with  statistical analysis of the center's therapy performance.  
* Assists with the establishment of clear lines of communication between therapy and other center staff members.
* Assist the Occupational Therapist with tracking and documenting pre-authorization requirements according to state standards in the patient's chart.

Required Skills

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:

* Must meet licensure requirements of the state of jurisdiction.
* Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program with an Associates Degree.
Required Experience

JOB RELATED EXPERIENCE:

* Previous experience as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assisant(COTA)  
DEMONSTRATED JOB-RELATED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
* Demonstrated a professional, courteous, and tactful manner
