Description
SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Manager Trainee Program is to develop the qualities and skills needed to manage the daily operations of the gestation/farrowing, sow farm, and/or finishing contract production departments. This will be achieved through implementing Country View Family Farms established production criteria and a series of seminars dealing with topics ranging from leadership to conflict resolution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

**This position requires one who is multi-task oriented and a team player.

1.) Develop competencies for all processes within the sow farm and finishing.

2.) Schedule and coordinates daily and weekly tasks with the Barn Manager, Department Leads and staff.

3.) Conducts a weekly review of departmental performance.

4.) Keeps accurate records and submits them in a timely manner to the Barn Manager and Department Lead.

5.) Ensure all established processes are being followed by all team members.

6.) Organizes pig flow.

7.) Implements technical protocols and helps to develop and test new processes. Ensures the farm's working environment is safe by providing safety equipment, training, and actions to prevent hazardous conditions.

8.) Works in conjunction with the Barn Manager, Department Leads and Human Resources on personnel issues including, but not limited to, hiring, termination, worker safety, performance evaluation, and staffing levels.

9.) Will work with Department Leads for training all team members and ensure proper animal husbandry skills are being utilized.

10.) Responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of facilities.

11.) Follows and monitors Animal Welfare policies and procedures including providing a physical environment that meets the animal's needs, providing access to adequate water and high-quality feed, providing humane treatment of the animals, providing identification and appropriate treatment of animals in need of health care.

12.) Responsible for complying with all environmental laws and procedures to which the company is required to follow or voluntarily subscribes.

13.) Occasionally, fills in as Barn Manager, Department Lead, or Finish Service Manager after all skills needs to perform the job has been learned.

14.) Maintains bio-security protocols at the farm.

Requirements SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
He/she will not be responsible for any team members until after completing the Manager Trainee program and placed in a position.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Prefer a Bachelors Degree in an agricultural related field or minimum of 3 years swine industry experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to communicate both verbally and written in English.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
