Description   Job Summary: Responsible for the delivery of technical training to include classroom and hands on application to a variety of audiences   Primary Activities and Responsibilities:
  • Instruction: Instruct and implement new hire and existing employee training in Engineering Bridge in classroom and outside settings at the CSX Railroad Education and Development Institute (REDI) in Atlanta and field locations. Lead by example in performing all technical competencies required to deliver training and perform craft specific job duties.
  • Safety:  Ensure high emphasis on employee safety. Work closely with field operations and provide quality employee development that is focused around a safety mind set and the CSX core values.  Follow pre-defined safety guidelines as outlined by federal and/or best practices standards.
  • Administration:  Display a high level of dedication to complete class preparation, administrative support, career advising and provide trainees with evaluation and performance feedback.
  • Evaluation:  Evaluate and provide performance feedback to students to encourage development and improved job performance.  Initiating the deselection process as necessary.
  • Regulation Standards:  Deliver revised and updated Engineering Bridge program materials to ensure compliance with current CSX, Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Association of American Railroads (AAR) rules and regulations.
  • Development:  Cross train to become certified to deliver one additional training program offered in the REDI curriculum and related to the current craft knowledge.  Assist other training instructors with the day-to-day training operation. Complete ongoing development plans to improve current technical and leadership skills
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
  Qualifications   Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma / GED required
  • 6 months or more experience required in Mechanical, Engineering / Maintenance Of Way, Transportation, Railroad Operations, Education, or Training
Equivalent Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution required
  • 6 months or more experience required in Mechanical, Engineering / Maintenance Of Way, Transportation, Railroad Operations, Education, or Training
Preferred Qualifications: In addition to meeting the above qualifications, any of the following are preferred:
  • 3 or more years of experience in Mechanical, Engineering / Maintenance Of Way, Transportation, Railroad Operations, Education, or Training
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of applicable Association of American Railroads (AAR) and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Regulatory Standards
  • Knowledge of CSX Mainframe and Systems
  • Training delivery skills
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to implement work within designated budget and operational parameters
  • Ability to develop and coach others
  • Accountability for the safety and performance of others

  • 20% travel required.
  • Wear protective equipment such as welding shields, hard hat, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, work boots, safety vest, face shield, and safety glasses.
  • Work hours may vary in length and schedule.  Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek.
  • Work hours include rotating on-call responsibilities which may be on weekends or outside standard working hours.  Willing and able to work different shifts as assigned in a 24 hour/7 days a week operation (including working weekends and holidays).
  • Need to be available to report to work with two-hour advance notice.
  • Federal regulations require random testing for drugs and/or alcohol.
  • The applicant selected for this position may be required to successfully complete a background check and physical including a drug test.  Passing results must be received prior to start date in new position.
Environmental Conditions:
  • Work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Work at elevated heights, in certain instances in excess of 100 feet.
  • Work with equipment that intensifies the heat factor
  • Work with hazardous materials on an occasional basis.
