The Health Information Management (HIM) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a standardized, organization-wide data quality management plan for health records and documentation, coding, and reimbursement, and data integrity and quality in all divisions of MinuteClinic organization. Required Qualifications:
Supporting the organizations governance activities related to its health information environment including the protections and assurances of the ethical use of health information. Developing, implementing, and maintaining a quality data and health record content management plan related to the medical record management, definition of legal medical record, information authentication, alteration management and legacy information Administering data information and records retention practices including retention/storage, archiving, and destruction related to the organizations electronic and paper medical records in accord with legal and regulatory requirements and the enterprise Records Management Program Assuring the use and management of health information is compliant with external legal and regulatory requirements; accreditation requirements and standards; reimbursement/payer policies; and the organizations policies and procedures Functions as the organizations Custodian of Records including the oversight of daily functions related to the patient medical records, both paper-based and electronic; assisting in assuring the privacy safety and security of records; and releases of protected health information only to authorized individuals as required by law and consistent with the organizations policies Assessing current compliance activities, identify areas of high risk, and evaluating risk factors in coding and documentation practices Developing, implementing, and maintaining standardized, organization-wide policies and procedures to monitor the success of the quality data management plan, review areas of risk, investigate identified issues, report data analysis, and take appropriate steps to correct violations In partnership with appropriate personnel as needed, establish, implement, and maintain a formalized review process for compliance, including a formal review (audit) process In partnership with appropriate personnel, developing and implementing standardized, organization-wide coding guideline Preferred Qualifications:
Credentialed as an RHIA or RHIT and a CCS preferred Experience in operational management Experience in project management Knowledge of health information systems and database management Knowledge of applied statistics, process analysis, and outcomes Education:
Bachelor’s degree in health information management or a related field and at least 8 years of professional experience, 5 of which are in data quality; or a master’s degree or it’s equivalent and at least 4 years of experience in a clinic, operational, or data quality improvement function.
