Job Type: Full Time Position Summary:
UNIX Systems Administrator (AIX) to share hardware and software
technical support for more than 800 production and test servers.
Resource will perform and provide
system installation, performance
monitoring, refresh/capacity
planning, configuration, data,
fault and print management, and
provisioning for SAN Storage. Will
be supporting a 24 x 7 production
environment - on-call, nights
and weekend work will be required.
• Proactively maintain system
integrity supporting change
management, system backup and
disaster recovery, problem
management, peripheral connectivity and release distribution.
• Evaluate, install and configure
system administration support tools and third-party application
software.
• Write shell scripts to automate
various system administration
tasks.
• Document software and system
configuration.
• Provide system hardware/software
consulting for client/server
environment to other IT and user
departments. Required Qualifications:
* 3+ yrs Information Technology industry and networking experience * 3+ yrs UNIX Systems Administration for enterprise level of 500+ servers - AIX v5.3, v6.1 required Technical Skills required: * UNIX - AIX v5.3, v6.1 * Volume Manager, VIO Server, Symantec products, Clustering software * Shell Script programming * Solaris and Linux experience is a plus. Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrable experience with the following: UNIX systems administration on AIX platforms with system installation and configuration, setup, fundamentals of security, and installation of third-party software. Understanding and working knowledge of HA clustered systems including experience with HACMP and Veritas product line. Experience with security procedures for both logical and physical protection of servers. Solid understanding of UNIX-based OS, including security, file system, kernel, memory management, processes, inter-process communication, devices, problem determination and performance tuning. Familiar with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts, including TCP/IP, NFS, NIS, DNS and network routing. Advanced shell scripting writing ability Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment earning the trust and respect of IT and user community. Proven record of successful implementation of large projects and complex solutions regarding the planning, coordination, installation, and maintenance of operating system and related software products. Education:
Bachelor's degree in related technology field and/or commensurate work experience Verifiable High School diploma or GED is required. Business Overview:
