Description
DC Greenworks is the District of Columbia's preeminent green roof advocate, educator, and installer. We serve the Washington, D.C. community by providing training, tools, and techniques that utilize, protect and advance the environment. DC Greenworks sees a vital connection between economy and ecology, employment potential and environmental sustainability. We actively seek to discover, promote, and deliver cutting edge solutions that are cost effective, eco-friendly, and socially beneficial.

We have four program areas. With Urban Agriculture, we improve food security and safety, while reducing our carbon footprint, strengthening the community and enhancing the nutrients in our diet through residential and commercial rooftop vegetable gardens, schoolyard gardens, community gardening projects, and training urban farmers. Our Stormwater Mitigation program helps improve our ground water supply and preserve our waterways by capturing stormwater in rain barrels and rain gardens, on green roofs, and through other low-impact development (LID) best management practices. Through Education & Public Leadership, DCG connects diverse groups of stakeholders to promote environmental awareness, advance green job creation, and build neighborhood pride. Our Green Collar Job Training program provides expertise and expands interest LID techniques that, at their foundation, are simple applications with tremendous social, economic and environmental benefits.
