Devereux's Children's Behavioral Health Center (DCBHC), located in Malvern, PA is currently seeking Part- Time and Full-Time Direct Support Professionals/Mental Health Techs.
DCBHC provides therapeutic services for those with Depression, Aggression, Self-esteem issues, Psychosis, Drug and alcohol issues, Cutting, self-injurious behaviors, Suicidal thoughts/attempts, and PDD/Autism Spectrum. The average length of stay is between 3 days and several weeks.
As a Direct Support Professional, you will be responsible for:
-Ensuring adolescents are safe, healthy and living in a clean environment.
-Assisting, supporting and instructing adolescents in self-help skills designed to encourage independence.
-Establishing and maintaining a therapeutic rapport with adolescents
-Accompanying adolescents on community life outings, medical appointments and other recreational activities.

Implementing programs designed to meet the social, emotional, physical and personal needs of clients, ensuring clients are safe, healthy and living in a clean environment, assisting, supporting and instructing individuals in self-help skills designed to encourage independence, establishing and maintaining a therapeutic rapport with individuals, accompanying individuals on community life outings, medical appointments and other recreational activities.

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited program in an area of human services, which includes sociology, psychology, criminal justice, etc. AND one (1) year of human service experience OR two (2) years of direct care experience and a high school diploma or GED plus 12 semester credit hours in sociology, psychology, criminal justice, special education, etc. from an approved educational program.

Be empathetic, a team player, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, energetic, creative, understand the theories of behavior management and positive reinforcement, and represent yourself as a positive role model. Additionally, you must be able to complete eight days of new hire orientation class, have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adolescents with special needs and possess a valid license.
Physical Requirements: Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing. Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques upwards of 75-100 lbs. or more. Some repetitive wrist/hand movements, normal hearing and vision. Occasional use of computers and office equipment. Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches.
Work Environment: Regularly works inside areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated. Some fluctuations in temperature. Use of Protective equipment such as latex gloves, facial mask protective eyewear, and gown. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Some degree of physical involvement in exercise of Safe and Positive Approaches.
