The Senior Accounting Manager position is a critical role for our rapidly-growing company, and is responsible for providing technical accounting expertise, financial analyses, and improvement of financial processes and controls.

The Senior Accounting Manager is a key member of the Finance team and participates in many important aspects of the financial operations of the Company.

Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Senior Accounting Manager will own the development and maintenance of the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives to produce accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is very hands on and has the energy to roll up their sleeves to dive into the details, able to implement scalable systems and efficient processes, and has the confidence to lead a high performing team.

Responsibilities

Own the monthly, quarterly and year-end close process, including year-end audit and the preparation of internal / external consolidated financial statements.

Manage an efficient organization responsible for general ledger accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and stock-based compensation, fixed assets, financial reporting, and variance analyses.

Proactively lead all aspects of technical accounting, including timely identification of and compliance with evolving accounting guidance, providing GAAP interpretation, and documenting issues appropriately.

Research technical accounting matters as they arise and determine accounting treatment for complex transactions based on such research.

Prepare standard and ad-hoc analyses of the Company?s cost structure and assist the FP&A manager as necessary with operational finance issues.

Develop Excel-based reporting tools that enable department heads / functional leads to understand and pro-actively manage their monthly spend.

Manage the development and implementation of internal controls and systems that meet the Company?s evolving business model and culture.

Skills & Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.

CPA license absolutely required and MUST be valid in California.

Big 4 or small CPA firms as current job

4-7 years of total accounting experience, with increasing levels of responsibilities.

Start up/Tech experience preferred

Strong technical expertise in regards to GAAP.

Advanced knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables and v-lookup formulas.

Hands-on approach, extremely detail-oriented. Comfortable doing the work yourself when necessary, with limited resources and tight timelines.
