Job Summary

The Field Engineer position will be located in the New Milford, Pennsylvania operations office and support natural gas gathering operations in Pennsylvania and New York. Key responsibilities include providing engineering support of pipeline maintenance and operations, and shared accountability with Operations for code compliance. This includes providing routine engineering support of Operations, hosting pipeline regulatory inspections, coordinating with leadership corrective actions associated with non-compliance citations, and responding to incidents assisting Claims investigation. Updates and maintains standards & procedures. Responds to questions or inquiries from stations or governmental agencies. Will interface and receive technical guidance as necessary from technical groups within the DTE Gas Company.

Key Accountabilities

-Perform general pipeline engineering activities related to pipeline operations, for example flow modeling, integrity management activities, ROW maintenance, pipeline repair, code compliance, interaction with regulatory representatives, etc.
-Provide input to create accurate and realistic budgets, tracks and adjusts budgets,communicates budgetary priorities.
-Provide accurate and timely engineering support to routine Operations requests. Interact with Central Engineering for technical direction as necessary.
-Coordinate and perform NYPSC and PAPUC inspections
-Update standard and procedure manuals
-Perform compliance inspections
-Administer OQ Program and perform Operator Qualification Evaluation
-Familiarity with pipeline codes 49 CFR Part 192, NYCRR Title 16 Part 255 and PA Act 127.
-Shared accountability with Operations for compliance of pipeline operations with the code requirements of the New York Dept of Public Service and the Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission. Interact with Central Codes Staff for knowledge transfer.
-Implements public awareness and damage prevention programs.
-Prepare code compliance documents and reports as required by PHMSA, NYPSC and PAPUC.
-Coordinate and implement pipeline and facility corrosion control plan and recordkeeping.Interact with Corrosion Control Group for support and direction.Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required, Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred.
-A minimum of five years experience, natural gas gathering or transmission operations experience is preferred.
-Capable of passing knowledge and performance tests for routine tasks to achieve necessary Operator Qualifications for the position within 3 months of start date.
-Computer Skills: Microsoft applications
-Ability to prioritize workload and handle multiple assignments
-Communication skills, both oral and written, and interpersonal skills
with evidence of customer interactions.
