DescriptionDescription: Electro-Motive Diesel is owned by Progress Rail, a Caterpillar Company. EMD is the world''s largest developer and manufacturer of locomotives for freight, intercity passenger, commuter, switching, industrial and mining customers. EMD also designs, develops and manufactures engines and generators for marine applications, offshore and land-based drilling rigs and stationary power units.
Duties: Manage Inquiry Group: responsible for department budget, employee supervision, development, training, performance evaluations and employee hiring; Maintain group metrics for proposal cycle time, win-loss, and contract closure; Generate Continuous Improvement ideas for the Inquiry Group; Coordinate the Market Opportunity and Gate Review meetings; Coordinate S&OP Demand Planning meetings with Sales and MPS Facilitate & Lead Proposal Approval Summary meetings with Executive Management Provide strategic direction on how to pursue proposals, modifying requirements as necessary to ensure proposals can be completed on time with a winning product; Communicate status of proposals to the Sales team; Oversee Inquiry Group interaction with other groups (e.g. costing, pricing, leasing, financial, schedule, legal, etc.); Assist in the development of market strategies and the completion of competitive bid analysis; Optimize availability and maintenance of accurate product information, technical data and information necessary to support the Sales and Marketing organization; Qualifications: Required: Bachelor s degrees in engineering or business or equivalent; Minimum 10 years commercial and technical experience in capital intensive, highly engineered, long life cycle product line Significant locomotive end product knowledge; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Capability to analyze customer requirements and review detailed specifications; Ability to think strategically and adapt to changing market conditions; High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others; High level of analytical ability to assess, identify and facilitate alternate courses of action to mitigate project risk; Working knowledge of internal company departments and relationships; Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, Project, etc. Ability to travel as required.
