Duties:
· Provide weldment designs for engine, generator, motor, bogie, underframe, cab & carbody

· Provide field welding repair procedures for all EMD products

· Develop welding specifications as required in support of product development

· Interpret drawing and specification requirements in support of EMD manufacturing and suppliers

· Support the qualification and implementation of new welding processes to reduce cost and improve quality

· Serve as the designated Welding Engineering representative for EBA certification (EN 15085)

· Perform the responsibilities of the EN 15085 Level A Welding Coordinator for EMD Muncie facility

· Represent EMD on the AWS D15.1 Locomotive Welding committee.

· Work in a team environment that includes Manufacturing, Product Design, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Field Service & Suppliers

· Communicate information both written & orally to all levels of the organization in support of the above responsibilities

· Travel as required

Qualifications: Required:
· BS in Welding Engineering or equivalent

· Minimum 10 year's experience designing structural weldments & developing welding specs for support product development.

· Specific knowledge of engineering mechanics, structural design, metallurgy, & manufacturing engineering

· High level of knowledge of welding/brazing processes

· Familiarity with basic machine tools & fabrication processes

· Understanding of engineering theory & principles of design

· High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult

· Demonstrated ability to work independently & with others

· Training in computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Unigraphics, Teamcenter)

· High level of written and oral communication skills

· High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others

Preferred:

· Advanced college degree with a major in Engineering

· Previous locomotive familiarity & design experience related to crankcases, generator frames, cabs, underframes and/or hoods
