Job Description GENERAL SUMMARY
Working under limited direction and within general practices, provides technical expertise by independently determining and developing approaches to solutions for a wide range of complex software engineering problems. Understands company goals and practices and applies them when resolving a variety of problems. Uses judgement and creativity and sound technical knowledge to obtain and recommend solutions. Assignments may include new products as well as upgrades, and enhancements or fixes to existing products.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Writes high level design specs, unit test plans and integration test plans.
Analyze and code complex modules, define data structures, and specify test tools.
Accountable for delivery of subsystem, anticipate issues and addresses proactively.
Develops new software engineering methods or processes, re-evaluate existing processes.
Contributes to the development and achievement of organizational goals and objectives.
Represents the organization on project teams and may perform technical project leadership roles.
Sphere of influence is likely to extend outside of work group or department.

Knowledge of appropriate development languages.
Knowledge of job associated database/software/documentation.
General knowledge and application of engineering concepts.

Competencies

* BS or equivalent degree in computer science/engineering or related field. Prefer MS or equivalent.

* 15+ years in developing software applications

Minimum of four years of experience in following technologies:

* Previous architecture and development experience with NAS and SAN protocols like NFS, iSCSI and FC

* Expertise in File system and Storage Replication protocols.

* In-depth knowledge of storage management applications

* Ability to design and develop new plug-ins on storage devices

* Cross business unit collaboration and ability to work with business leaders to design ESG solutions.

* Windows programming

* SCSI standards and SAN technologies

* Client/server application programming

* Distributed systems programming

* Good experience with UML 2.0 is a strong plus.

* System programming skills in C/C++/C#/Java

* Design and development experience on powershell CMDLET’s

Personal skills

* Strong communication and problem solving skills

* Ability to balance development and high priority customer issues.

* Mentor team and architect new solutions and products on EMC storage products

* Ability to take ownership of tasks and complete them with little or no direction.
