Job Description
EMC is looking for a Senior Consultant Software Engineer to be part of the development team that creates the next generation of storage products. This full time position is for a strong, proven leader who can provide strategic technical direction and oversight for a motivated and experienced development team that spans several locations worldwide.
In this role the candidate will design and operate processes and structures to ensure other leaders in the organization are aligned to create a consistent system management architecture and roadmap that meet all functional and non-functional requirements, such as small resource efficiency, scalability up and down, industry leading Total Cost of Ownership of the resulting products.

The candidate must be able to effectively communicate with other technical leaders inside and outside the organization, executives and managers, and must display a strong work ethic. The ability to take "ownership" of assigned tasks and drive them to completion is essential.

Education and Experience Required
• Extensive experience in large-scale application design and development
• Experience with storage backup and recovery technologies
• Understanding of distributed systems and datacenter design
• Experience in building systems-management, monitoring or backup applications
• Solid practical understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, including Databases, networking, OS principles and services
• Proven ability to deliver scalable software
• Understanding of object-oriented design methodology and techniques
• Solid understanding of system architecture
• Must be comfortable in both Windows and Linux environments
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated technical leadership and skills in mentoring and guiding others
• Ability to design and operate structures to provide guidance and oversight to other leaders and the larger development team
• Flexibility; works well under pressure and changing priorities
• Ability to translate business and technical requirements into a data model
• Storage experience (NAS, SAN, iSCSI) is a plus

• BS or MS, Ph.D in Computer Science, Math, or Engineering
• 12+ years of experience on software development
