  General Summary The IT Business Analyst works with business partners within the Finance department (Finance, Treasury, Accounting, Decision Support, and Internal Audit) to align technology solutions with business strategies.  This position will support corporate and department initiatives by gathering, analyzing and documenting business requirements, researching and recommending best practices, and delivering end products that meet business objectives on time and on budget.   As a key member of the IT Business Services team, the team member will be a liaison between Information Technology and the Business Customer.    The IT Business Analyst should also understand, utilize and embrace the Family Dollar System Development Life Cycle.  This individual will have experience in business analysis, including; how to assess business needs, gather business requirements and assemble deliverables. The individual will be required to write test scripts and have an understanding of functional testing with the ability to analyze the results and interpret the findings to the business as well as technical developers. This individual must work well in a team environment. Principal Duties Responsibilities
  1. Serves as a liaison between the business community and within the IT organization to provide technical solutions to meet user needs.
  2. Works collaboratively with other IT Business Analysts and Project Managers to support of enhancements to the Point of Sale system, which have downstream impact on financial systems and processes
  3. Possesses expertise in the business unit(s) they support – Finance (Fixed Assets, General Ledger), Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Tax, Treasury, Decision Support, and Internal Audit – as well as, an understanding of the IT organization’s systems and capabilities.
  4. Analyzes business partner’s operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions.
  5. Assists in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology.
  6. Works with business partners to gather and document business requirements that are written in clear, unambiguous language, and that result in testable, measurable, and traceable outcomes.
  7. Translates high level business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization and manages changes to such specifications.
  8. Evaluates business and functional requirements that require customizations or enhancements to existing applications, products and systems.
  9. Assists in developing System Test scripts and User Test Scripts
  10. Proactively communicate project status, issues and concerns to project managers.
  11. Utilizes, refines, and enforces standardized processes and tools on every internal and external project
  12. Subject matter expert for all applications within Finance [Fixed Assets, General Ledger, Tax], Treasury, Accounting, Decision Support, and Internal Audit and all associated interfaces to those applications.
  13. Develops, tracks, maintains all SLA's, project support documents, and open / unresolved issues and / or future enhancements
  14. Other tasks as assigned.
