Job Description:

Lead Geotechnical Engineer


Foth is a consulting engineering, science, and construction services firm delivering technical solutions for public and private clients around the corner and around the globe. We are currently seeking a self-directed, results-oriented Lead Geotechnical Engineer for our Toronto, Ontario or Minneapolis, MN locations.


 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Provide project and technical leadership on complex, multi-disciplined projects including managing budget, schedule, regulatory and contractual commitments 


  • Participate in strategic planning, development, deployment, and growth of the mining program


  • Act as project manager for mining projects, assemble project teams and monitor project performance, mentor and coach team members


  • Anticipate project staffing needs and provide input to selection of project team members

  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Establish objectives and provide performance feedback for project team members


  • Manage pricing and negotiate changes to the scope of work with the client and subcontractors


  • Anticipate problems and work with client, subcontractors, and project teams to provide corrective actions, document and execute changes in scope of project


  • Lead, coordinate and build teamwork among other team members/disciplines at all levels


  • Demonstrate behavior consistent with Foth Basic Principles and Values


  • Work collaboratively and build effective relationships with others


  • Communicate effectively across all levels within organization


  • Maintain a positive attitude


  • Travel as required (domestic and/or international) for field work and/or other client/business objectives

     



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • BS Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical or Mining


  • 15+ years of experience with engineering feasibility, design, or construction management/administration in the mining industry with an emphasis on tailings and waste rock management.


  • 10+ years of project management experience including design of tailings and waste rock storage facilities


  • Previous experience performing in a leadership role

  • Previous experience teaching, mentoring, motivating, and developing skills in other members


  • Professional engineer registration

     



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • MS Geotechnical or Mining Engineering


  • 20+ year's experience with understanding of the consulting engineering and mining business
