PURPOSE AND SCOPE:


Supports FMCNA’s mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including following all regulatory, FVC and FMS policy requirements.



Act as an assistant to the Physicians, Registered Nurses and Radiology Technologists. Has frequent contact with patients, visitors, and families. Must work and interact with well with others



DUTIES / ACTIVITIES:



CUSTOMER SERVICE:



  • Responsible for driving the FMS and FVC culture through values and customer service standards.
  • Accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships through effective and timely communication.
  • Takes initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES



  • Understands and is able to follow sterile procedures
  • Assists the patients to the pre-op area and takes initial vital signs
  • Assists in preparation of the patient for the surgical procedure by positioning, shaving and prepping
  • Acts as scrub technologist to assist the physician during procedure; maintaining sterile technique.
  • Assembles and removes from room, all instruments, utensils, equipment, gloves and linens utilized on the case
  • Responsible for procedure room cleaning between patients
  • Transports patients as needed
  • May participate in CQI projects
  • Expected to participate in cost control initiative
  • Keeps assigned areas cleaned and stocked for future exams
  • Assures confidentiality of patient information and medical records
  • Is flexible in response to changing work environment or responsibilities
  • Responsible for sterilization of instruments and associated quality assurance documentation
  • Responsible for ordering, stocking and inventory of supplies and products
  • All other assignments as directed by the Facility Manager
  • Other duties as assigned.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Day to day work may include desk and personal computer work and interaction with patients, facility staff and physicians. The work environment is characteristic of a health care facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials.



Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds/22.7kg. Will be required to perform patient transfers and positioning for patients up to 400 pounds


Must be able to stand for many hours in a protective lead apron


Must work well under pressure and stressful situations


EDUCATION



  • High school graduate or its equivalent
  • Medical Assistant Certificate

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS



  • Some level of Clinical Training Helpful
  • May require ACLS / BCLS
  • Must be certified in CPR
  • Hospital and operating room skills preferred but not necessary
  • Must be able to speak and understand English
  • Must utilize universal precautions at all times due to the possibility of exposure to communicable diseases
  • Have good manual dexterity and must be able to work rapidly
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of instrument sterilization techniques
  • Knowledge of personal protective devices to be utilized when operating radiology systems
