DescriptionJob Duties Responsibilities GEICO has an opening for an energetic senior programmer/analyst to support a hybrid team with functions that include Mainframe and .NET applications. The applicant must have made the transition to .NET development from Mainframe.
Applicant must have at least two years of experience in object-oriented development. Experience with .NET technologies in the areas of C# development, ASP .NET MVC, SQL Server including SSIS and SQL Reporting Services, Visual Studio, and TFS required. Knowledge of .NET frameworks and understanding of .NET architecture, JavaScript, JQuery, HTML, AJAX, CSS, Sharepoint, and Agile processes a plus. A minimum 5 years of experience with mainframe systems. Strong experience with Cobol/2, DB2, and JCL is a must; experience with CICS is a plus. Applicant must have a solid background in the following areas: requirements development, strong analysis skills for problem solving as well as for creation of project artifacts, design, programming, testing, and production support for both technology sets on a rotating basis and as needed. The position requires good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Applicant must be able to interface directly with the internal customer. Applicants need the ability to communicate technical problems to non-technical audiences, as well as demonstrate sound critical thinking and troubleshooting skills. Ability to design, develop and implement high-quality code in a timely manner is essential. Must be self-motivated, able to work well both independently and as part of a team. Applicant must be highly motivated to learn new applications, detailed business processes, and technologies, and to understand the impact that systems have on the business and vice versa.
