Reliability Engineer

The primary role of the Reliability Engineer is to implement the reliability program and identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant and/or business operations. The Reliability Engineer will be involved in loss elimination, risk management, and life cycle asset management and will have the freedom to develop programs and systems to guarantee asset availability.

Duties include originating and developing analysis methods for determining reliability of components, equipment, and processes; analyzing equipment performance data; tracking of abnormally high maintenance cost assets; preparing diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations and reports for defining reliability problems, making recommendations for improvements and assessing asset health. Also included will be consulting on the design and installation stages of projects for new assets and modification of existing assets and determining the cost advantages of alternatives for developing action plans to comply with internal and external customer demands for reliable equipment/processes to avoid failure.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
  • Guide efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls and safety systems
  • Collaborate with maintenance personnel to optimize asset health and to perform diagnosis on failed equipment
  • Provide input to risk management plan that will anticipate reliability-related and non-reliability related risks that could adversely impact manufacturing operations
  • Develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues
  • Apply data analysis techniques that include statistical process control, reliability modeling and prediction, fault tree analysis, Weibull analysis, Six Sigma methodology, RCE and RCFA, and failure reporting analysis and corrective action system (FRACAS)


Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
  • BS degree in an engineering and/or relevant experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting required
  • 3+ years' experience in Facilities Engineering or other plant operations / support capacity required
To be successful in this role, the applicant must possess the following skills:
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical people
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while providing follow up on critical assignments in an ever changing environment with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to champion innovation and continuous improvement and ability to exert influence in the development of overall objectives and long-range goals of the organization
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification and/or Six Sigma experience preferred
  • Prior experience in a regulated environment
  • Knowledge with the following processes: Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Total Predictive Maintenance (TPM), Risk-Based Maintenance, Overall Asset Effectiveness(OAE)
  • Experience in reliability engineering tools such as RCM, Weibull, MTBF, Life Cycle costing, Pareto, Root Cause Failure Analysis
