Future Opportunities - Auto Technician



Description The Automotive Technician is responsible for being able to
professionally inspect, repair and maintain services under MAP
guidelines to promote Goodyear's high customer satisfaction levels. The
Automotive Technician performs work as outlined on the repair order with
efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealerships, factory and
Goodyear standards. The Automotive Technician works with lube and oil
filter, transmission service, alignment, computer systems diagnosis,
tune-up, brake systems, steering and suspension. The Auto Tech must
explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical
individuals which may include other associates and customers, as
required and continuously learn new technical information and techniques
in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly
changing automotive technology. The Auto Tech does work The Goodyear
Way according to Goodyear's policies and procedures. The Auto Tech must
continually adapt to changing technologies and repair techniques as
vehicles become more sophisticated. Assists in training and with the
shadowing process. Maintains an organized service department.
Requirements
* High School Diploma or GED preferred

* Valid driver's license is required

* Must be at least 18 years old

* Ability to lift an object weighing up to 60 pounds.
Tasks
* Removal and Replacement of parts, which includes shocks, struts, steering and suspension components, brakes (mechanical or hydraulic). Perform alignment services and suspension repairs on automobiles and light trucks. Ability to provide basic maintenance functions such as tire mounting, dismount, wheel balance, lube - oil - filter and check fluid levels.
* Perform basic brake service, replace brake pads and shoes, replace or resurface break rotors and drums, calipers, wheel cylinders and brake lines/hose and bleeding of the complete brake system.
* Complete fuel injection services, which includes the following three steps: 1. Fuel tank additive 2. Run chemical through vacuum of vehicle to clean carbon deposits. 3. Perform under the hood fluid changes and power flushes, which includes: transmission fluid, antifreeze, power steering fluids, and differential services (changing the fluid in the axels).
* Assist and maintain an orderly/clean service area ensuring that Housekeeping Standards and all safety standards are being met. Ensures Good To Go, parking lot and bay navigation the Goodyear Way are followed. Complete all safety training. Create and maintain attractive displays and inventory of tires in designated positions in Service Department.
* Follow established processes in performing Goodyear's standardized Vehicle Maintenance Inspection. Read, understand and follow training manuals to attain the necessary skills for consistent customer service.
