information. The Intranet Web Developer team is responsible for identifying,
driving and executing key projects that develop our company intranet. Team
members are either technically-focused, building websites and tools, or
design-focused, providing UI design for internal sites and applications. You
consult with and advise other teams on our internal web presence and tools,
and often work with non-technical content owners in departments like People
Operations, Facilities and Finance to ensure that important content is readily
available. Passionate about expanding our intranet database, you continually
improve internal search properties that impact the daily lives of Googlers
around the world.

You develop coding and design solutions for our internal web properties, which
often includes conducting user studies and creating mockups. You drive
strategic projects to improve the user experience and are involved in the full
development process of websites.

Responsibilities

* Optimize high volume traffic working with APIs and RPCs, mobile platforms, App Engine, GWT and web product in general.
* Edit (by hand) using an IDE for development, version control systems (e.g., git or perforce), HTML 5.0 and CSS.

Minimum qualifications

* BS in Computer Science (In lieu of degree, 4 years of relevant work experience).
* 4 years of relevant work experience in software development.
* 2 years of relevant work experience.
* Experience working in Linux, BSD or UNIX environment.

Preferred qualifications

* In-depth experience developing numerous web-based applications.
* Significant development experience in Java
* Ability to communicate to all levels of users (internal and external), strong problem-solving skills, adaptable, proactive and willing to take ownership.
* Expert understanding of HTML, XHTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript and RSS.
* Strong commitment to quality, architecture and documentation.
