Description
Headway Corporate Resources is seeking individuals who can assist on a community-based research study known as the Computer-Assisted Tailored Cue-card Health (CATCH) Study for RTI International.

The CATCH Study will operate in Raleigh and provide study participants with education and testing around HIV, hepatitis and other sexual transmitted diseases (STDs).

About the Program: This project is a part of RTI International’s Substance Abuse Treatment Evaluations and Interventions (SATEI) Research Program. SATEI’s mission (www.rti.org/satei) is to conduct high-quality, multidisciplinary research that evaluates substance abuse treatment processes and develops and tests the impact and effectiveness of interventions for substance abusers and other high-risk, underserved populations in community-based settings. We also work with federal organizations to measure and evaluate the performance of substance abuse prevention and treatment services.

We are interested in individuals for field staff positions with education and experience in one or more of the following sets of skills:

HIV/STD counseling testing* – providing pre- and post-test counseling to study participants, including HIV/STD education, skills-building, role play, professional delivery of test results and referrals to services.

Phlebotomy* – drawing and preparing blood for HIV/STD testing by outside vendor.

Recruitment and retention of study participants – performing outreach and maintaining contact with specific populations, including substance users, sex workers and men who have sex with men, through local venues and organizations.

*Phlebotomists with HIV counseling testing experience are preferred.

Other Responsibilities: The following tasks may also be assigned to the individuals in these positions:

•Marketing the study in local communities and organizations
•Survey data collection
•Entering data accurately and efficiently into study computers
•Maintain field site in clean, orderly and professional condition
•Following prescribed research protocols

Additional responsibilities and duties may be added as necessary.

Other Qualifications:

•Must have basic skills and comfort level with computers and Microsoft Office products
•Must be able to work flexible hours, including some weekend and early evening hours
•Must be able to meet project ethical and confidentiality standards in working with human subjects to include substance users, sex workers and people of different sexual orientations
•Must have valid driver’s license and consistent/reliable transportation
•Willingness to be flexible with for evening and weekend work
•Familiarity with Wake County human service agencies serving target groups

Terms and Compensation: These paid part-time (15-20 hours/week) or full-time positions (30-40 hours) available through March 2011. Compensation of $13-$17 per hour commensurate with education and experience.

Start Date: Training will start in June, 2010.
