Description

This position supports Digital Asset Management (DAM), which entails efforts to organize HSN’s digital media assets (e.g. Video). This role supports a DAM application and will play an active role in the life cycle stages of planning, requirement definition, design, development, testing and support. This individual should be able to design and create new systems of moderate to high complexity, requiring integration with other systems or teams. This Software Engineer leads moderately complex projects and coordinates with QA and System Engineers on testing and implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Individual contributor on small, intermediate and large size projects.

  • Formulates/defines technical specifications.

  • Develops custom applications and modifies existing applications to meet distinct and changing business requirements.

  • Assists with technical requirements definition, analysis, design, testing, system documentation and user training.

  • Handles coding, debugging and documentation.

  • Supports the QA group in developing test plans and test scripts.

  • Participates in production support during and after normal working hours, including a rotation for On Call Support.


Technical Requirements:

  • Solid C# programming skills.

  • Solid understanding of and experience working with SOA using XML Web Services.

  • Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle.

  • Solid understanding of and experience developing ASP.Net 2.0 web applications.

  • ADO.Net SQL development with MS SQL Server (required), Oracle or other ANSI SQL acceptable.

  • IIS configuration and troubleshooting experience.

Beneficial if candidate possesses the following:

  • Experience as Software Engineer in a Web Applications / Application Programmer capacity using the .NET framework

  • Experience with Microsoft .Net 3.5 technologies; specifically Windows Communication Foundation and Workflow Foundation.

  • Experience with video encoding, streaming and VOD technologies.

  • OOP Design background

Education Experience Requirements:

  • 4-6 years software development experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
