InterContinental Lagos will open in 2013 and will be located on Victoria Island, in the centre of Lagos home to the majority of foreign embassies and multinational companies, making it the perfect residence for affluent business and diplomatic travelers. Built on an elevated terrain overlooking Lagos's port and the city below, the 19 storey hotel will offer uninterrupted, spectacular views of Lagos Skyline.

InterContinental Lagos will comprise of 358 well-appointed, elegantly decorated rooms and suites as well as a Club InterContinental floor. Guests will have access to an all-day dining restaurant, two specialty restaurants, room service and the pool bar for lighter meal choices and snacks. The lobby lounge and cocktail bar will be the perfect setting for casual meetings over coffee or drinks. In addition, for the health conscious traveler there will be a health club bar serving fresh juices. InterContinental Lagos will also offer exclusive business and conference facilities including a state of the art ballroom with a foyer area, and several additional flexible meeting and breakout. Other amenities will include a fully-equipped gym, outdoor pool, and retail space.

We are currently recruiting our Food Hygiene Officer

Key responsibilities of the role:

As the Food Hygiene Officer, you willbe an integral member of the Food & Beverage department, providing expertise and direction for all aspects of the Food & Beverage activities in line with the overall business strategy. You will inspect and supervise workplaces to ensure that workers and the public are protected from dangerous or unsafe conditions. You will inspect work spaces and machinery to verify that it is safe, and study the effects that businesses have on the surrounding environment. You will also implement the food and safety management systems, Maintain records of Food Safety and Hygiene related documentation; Conduct checks and hygiene audit on all food items, storage and food preparation areas; Conduct vendor inspection with the Purchasing and Executive Chef; Liaise with Pest Control Company for any pest issues in the operations area, and review the pest control performance; Works closely with the Learning and development Manager to conduct Food Handlers Training sessions.

Qualifications:

* Degree in Occupational Health orany related field
* At least4 yearsexperience in a similar post in a 5 stars hotel.
* Alcohol awareness certification and valid food handlers certification
* Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and quality.
* Good understandingof the Hotel Industry standards, policies and procedures
* Strong decision making and problem solving skills.
* Experience in high-end city operation with multi unit F&B and large Conference & Event
* Pre opening experience a strong plus
* Good understanding of the Nigerian/African business and operation environments and markets
* Service minded and ability to involve and support operations
