Invensys Rail is a division of Invensys plc and is a multinational leader in providing state-of-the-art software-based signalling, communication and control systems that enable the operation of trains in mainline and mass transit systems across the world.

We operate through a network of regional offices, drawing on global resource and expertise to deliver locally. We have over 140 years' of experience and continue to introduce new and leading-edge technologies to make rail travel safer, faster and more reliable.

The Senior Communications Systems and Radio Engineer will provide technical leadership in the field of communications to the rail team, to ensure that signalling and train control systems in the region can be tendered and delivered with sound engineering, standardised solutions and profitably.

The right candidate for this role will be able to confidently provide technical leadership in the field of general communications systems such as optical fibre networks, LAN/WAN networks etc. and mobile communications.

A key part of the role is providing state of the art and sound technical advice to the team on communications systems, integrating communications solutions with the overall system and providing technical support to the project delivery teams on key technical risks. A good knowledge of rail systems is highly desirable, particularly covering the following points, however, we will also consider candidates with a solid background in general communications and networks.
* Optical fibre based back haul systems
* Lower level LAN/WAN computer networks using high redundancy architectures
* Train Radio systems design
* Specification and measurement of coverage
* Digital Radio systems, such as GSM-R, TETRA, WiFi etc
* Practical experience of coverage planning using Antenna and Leaky feeder solutions in the Railway environment
* Practical experience of designing and installing radio equipment to infrastructure
* Rolling Stock interfaces
This is a fantastic role for the right person, with opportunities for career expansion in both the technical and management streams.
