Invensys Operations Management is a global technology, software and consulting organization. We design, manufacture, install, test and commission software and computer-based hardware for the automation and regulation of industrial and facility operations, the management of certain administrative functions of manufacturing businesses, and simulation of manufacturing process operations. Job Summary

Serves as liaison between the company and the client during a project ending with the installation and acceptance of capitalized equipment, enterprise software systems, or system integration or consulting projects/engagements. May work at client site on a day-to-day or periodic basis. Ensures customer satisfaction of information technology solutions by managing the details of overall project schedules, budgets, and deliverables. Typically uses more project management skills than technical skills. Services may be provided on a fee-for-service basis or be included as part of the purchase price for company products. Usually involves extensive interaction with sales, systems engineering, product development, and other members of cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing products to clients. Plans and directs schedules and will monitor budget/spending. Monitors the project from initiation through delivery. Organizes the interdepartmental activities and resources ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget constraints.

Job Complexity

Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Participates with the Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing Operations teams to develop and implement the technical strategies necessary to maximize revenue opportunities and ensure that customer expectations are addressed and satisfied on assigned sales orders. Works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles and state-of-the-art technical knowledge. Evaluate customer acceptance/appreciation of Company efforts and identifies organizational deficiencies and areas for improvement in the implementation and control of project orders. Recommends guidelines and procedures. Provides customer specific presentations of Company solutions and proposals.

Supervision

Supervise the activities of others. Provides regular updates to Business Unit management on project/account status and performance of personnel involved in project. Implements effective control on in- process sales order projects - including planning, scheduling, budgeting, staffing and reporting to meet the established delivery and profit objectives for the project. May coordinate efforts of subcontractors including installation/construction services. Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments. Goals often communicated in "solution" or project goal terms.

Interaction

Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups. Plays key role in handling critical account situations. Works as engineering partner with Account Sales Representative. May be in-house expert on specific technologies. Individuals with a customer focus have demonstrated the acumen to manage and cultivate positive high level customer relations. Represents Company to customers on first-of-a-kind, account development, multi-purchase agreement, multinational and/or very large, complex systems type orders. Responsible for the management of engineering activity dedicated to one or two major industry accounts with multi-million dollar engineering potential over at least 2-5 year time frame. Directly manages group of engineers dedicated to account, including field-based engineering personnel assigned to customer plant sites (includes training, development, staffing, performance management, rewards, expenses and adherence to all company policies).

Knowledge

Having broad expertise or unique knowledge, uses skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways. Identify and assess business risks associated with proposed sales situations and negotiation of terms to handle such situations. Will champion significant and critical projects, programs and business initiatives using demonstrated creativity and ingenuity. Establishes the expected sales order profit objectives and identifies the associated business/commercial risks. Recommends appropriate terms for handling in conjunction with the Contracts Department. Develops detailed business plan and forecasts for the account that includes receipts, shipments profiles, manpower utilization and margin. Is responsible for meeting the targets set by the business plan. Coordinates all service, support and customer training activities necessary to achieve customer satisfaction during the commissioning and start-up phases. Coordinates corporate development efforts on project commitments when required.
Experience

Minimum of 12 years of senior engineering experience. At least 9 years in the implementation and installation project management of large Industrial systems projects including first-of-a-kind orders. Minimum 12 overall professional experience in account development, multi-purchase agreement, multinational or complex integrated systems.

Education

Master's Degree in Engineering or related discipline and/or MBA or equivalent education and experience. PMP or PE preferred
