The Associate Director, Internal Communications, is responsible for leading employee-driven communications strategy and execution by facilitating, promoting, and ensuring mindful engagement of employees, continued enhancement of company culture, and working towards optimal, interactive, employee communications in line with business goals. As part of the Corporate Communications team, the Associate Director, Internal Communications will lead employee communications strategy and implementation including enhancing awareness, understanding of and engagement in achieving Ironwood's company goals. -
Oversee and/or draft content, originate ideas, and actualize plans in support of strategic goals for employee communications. -
Identify ways to help build a communications culture where information flows well across the organization, avoiding silos both functional and geographical; where all employees feel “in the know” about long and short-term goals as well as current events and updates. -
Partner with functional leadership and teams to understand and address communications opportunities to achieve goals. -
Work closely with HR team to support organizational goals related to development of people, teams and culture. -
Maximize live, written and personal communications as well as company's social Intranet to connect with employees. The Associate Director, Internal Communications, works closely on an ongoing basis with Employee Community Manager. -
Seek out employee stories to inspire and generate dynamic, relevant and impactful content on an ongoing basis; encourage contribution from employees across the organization. -
Lead companywide communications meetings from goals, strategy to execution; coordinating with planning team, gaining input from internal stakeholders. -
Ensure internal communications goals, initiatives and output are developed collaboratively and include feedback from a variety of employees in the organization; utilizing employee advisory group and employee network for insights and ideas on an ongoing basis. -
Monitor and measure effectiveness, including obtaining meaningful employee feedback, of internal communications initiatives, vehicles and content on a regular basis; address and change course as necessary. -
Develop innovative forums for employee communications that strengthen participation and community across geographies, business units, and functions. -
Draft and/or edit internal messages, providing context, clarity, consistency and appropriate tone with linkages to the company's business goals. -
Manage and keep multiple stakeholders at all levels informed. -
Work closely with the overall Corporate Communications team, including external and investor relations as well as other colleagues to ensure internal and external messages are aligned. -
Engage employees in Ironwood community by sharing information and updates on employee events, social groups and working teams.
Requirements
-
5+ years' internal communications experience in biotech, pharmaceuticals or related field: a bachelor's degree in a communications-related discipline and/or equivalent work experience in Marketing and Internal Communications. -
Strong track record of delivering impactful internal communications, including message development, communications planning and tailoring/targeting communications for different platforms and audiences. -
Experience developing strategic programs and managing events. -
Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, with strong attention to detail. -
Effective communications planning skills and the ability to work to prioritize and move forward multiple deliverables at the same time. -
Ability to work with and bring together different groups, teams, and projects.
