DescriptionReporting to the General Manager, the Director, Device and Technology will be responsible for ensuring technical, timeline and process alignment and coordination. Recognizing the highly sensitive nature of T-Mobile’s device portfolio planning information, the Director, Device and Technology will establish, maintain, oversee, “stress test” and generally manage a rigid process to securely and confidentially share necessary device and technology planning information to support the ISIS T-Mobile services. This process, at a minimum, will ensure that T-Mobile’s proprietary information is “firewalled” with respect to other ISIS MNO partner information, is shared only with pre-approved ISIS personnel with a legitimate “need to know” and used for the sole and specific purposes of joint ISIS T-Mobile product, platform and services planning and support. Further, the Director, Device and Technology will actively monitor the performance of T-Mobile as an ISIS-capable handset and application distribution channel and will drive process and other improvements to maximize yield, lower operational costs, accelerate time-to-market (process design and improvements to include device testing and certifications).
ResponsibilitiesManage the device and technical relationship with T-Mobile in a confidential environment, helping to identify and qualify new handsets coming to market. This includes handsets with native NFC capability coming from the handset OEMs as well as working to include non-NFC handsets via a NFC accessory.
Manage and coordinate integration efforts of Isis, T-Mobile and the handset OEMs. This includes coordination with the teams that are performing pre-qualification testing and full functionality testing on devices enabled for Isis Mobile Payments. Stay of abreast and influence, where possible, the T-Mobile and OEM device selection and delivery to ensure products will support Isis payment and services solutions. Work closely with Isis technical staff, sales and account teams to ensure valid integration objectives of Isis requirements on target mobile handsets. Work closely with the Isis Device Manager(s) in managing and optimizing OEM relationships. Identify critical paths, as well as logistical and organizational constraints, and then develop strategies and contingency plans for worst case scenarios, while ensuring appropriate visibility as necessary to escalate unresolved issues. Stay abreast of NFC standards developments, certification needs and market requirements as they relate to incorporation and support of Isis services on mobile devices. Support relationships with related ecosystem partners and vendors as required. Interface with internal R&D, Business Development, Sales and Marketing, and external client/customers at all levels. RequirementsMinimum of 8 years of experience in the telecommunication, financial services and/or interactive media related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience working with wireless technologies and mobile applications, preferably at a wireless operator or a major handset manufacturer. BS/BA or equivalent required. BS in Engineering or Information technology preferred. Knowledge of various operating platforms in the US such as Android, iPhone OS, RIM and Windows 7. Experience in payment card industry, such as Issuers, Card Associations or Processors is highly desirable. Proven experience leading teams & cross-functional projects. Proven experience proactively managing multiple client relationships. Sales engineering experience highly desirable.
