Job Description J.P. Morgan has a significant FO presence across 10 countries in Asia. The Compliance Department is seeking a highly motivated and experienced compliance professional to join the Asia Pacific Compliance team to develop and drive the Compliance program for the FO and OTC Clearing businesses in Hong Kong. As the individual who takes on this critical role, you will assist the Head of Regional FO Compliance in managing the compliance risk associated with operating the FO and OTC Clearing businesses in Hong Kong, working closely with Compliance Officers across the region. The Hong Kong FO business coverage is growing and increasingly focused on synthetic products as well as traditional listed derivatives Key responsibilities
  • Develop, initiate, maintain, and revise policies and procedures for the general operation of the HK FO/OTC Clearing Compliance Program (Compliance Program) and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
  • Manage day-to-day operation of the Compliance Program.
  • Collaborate with other control/support groups (e.g. Control, Internal Audit, Operations) to identify potential compliance issues and where appropriate direct compliance issues through those channels for further investigation and resolution. Consult with FO Legal Counsel as needed to resolve difficult legal compliance issues.
  • Respond to alleged contraventions of rules, regulations, policies, procedures by conducting initial examinations into the alleged contraventions. Where appropriate, ensure appropriate response to the allegation and/or recommend the initiation of formal investigative procedures. Develop and oversee a system for uniform handling of such potential and actual contraventions.
  • Act as an independent review and evaluation point to ensure that compliance issues within the business are being appropriately evaluated, examined and resolved.
  • Conduct ongoing compliance testing activities to validate the veracity, effectiveness and ongoing relevance of the Compliance Program.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop/implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provide guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
  • Provide reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, to keep the Board of Directors and other relevant members of Business and Compliance management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts and execution of the Compliance Program.
  • Ensure proper reporting of contraventions or potential contraventions to relevant regulatory authorities as appropriate and/or required.
  • Develop, build, and maintain strong, open, and effective relationships across differing layers of relevant regulatory authorities, including HKEX and SFC.
  • Be aware of all regulatory change as relevant to the FO/OTC Clearing businesses in Hong Kong. Understand proposed/impending changes and assess their impact to the business groups. Ensure appropriate information dissemination in relation to such proposed/impending changes.
  • As part of the larger Compliance Program, develop and implement an annual Training Program for the FO/OTC Business groups in Hong Kong. Conduct regular classroom style training on relevant regulatory compliance topics.
