With $18 trillion of assets under custody and $393 billion in deposits, the Corporate Investment Bank provides strategic advice, raises capital, manages risk and extends liquidity in markets around the world. J.P. Morgan's IT Hardware equity research team is looking to fill an Associate Analyst position. The position will be based in the San Francisco office. The team operates with two mandates: (1) identify compelling investment ideas covering a range of topics and (2) provide the highest level of service and responsiveness for our internal and external clients. The Associate Analyst position is a multi-faceted role and operative in a frenetic, fast-paced environment. Candidate must be attentive-to-detail, highly motivated, able to work independently, intellectually curious, and adaptable to schedule changes. All of these attributes must be applied on a daily basis to preserve the integrity of the team's franchise reputation, client relations, and product flow. Conceptualizing and constructing publication-quality research reports in a demanding, time-sensitive environment is a standard practice on the IT Hardware equity research team. Primary responsibilities of the Associate Analyst include:
  • Update/create financial models related to coverage companies, as well as market segments such as PCs, Tablets, Storage, and Servers
  • Generate ideas and then incorporate research findings and views in compelling, in-depth reports (i.e., 4-35 pages) related to both coverage companies and broader industry trends
  • Quickly respond to actionable news events with efficient publication of shorter-length reports, i.e., 1-3 pages
  • Conduct research through both formal and informal surveys of industry participants spanning technology hardware, software, and services
  • Within one year of employment, the Associate Analyst will be responsible for active calling list of 75+ buy-side clients
  • Participate in conference calls and meetings with company executives
  • Address one-off requests from buy-side clients and J.P. Morgan sales staff
