Position Expectations


Position Summary

The Revenue Management team is responsible for maximizing ticket revenue on every flight, every day, within the JetBlue route network. The group is comprised of analysts on two teams—inventory and pricing—that work closely together to ensure that JetBlue is selling the optimal number of tickets across the spectrum of prices available based on customer demand.  Analysts within the department work either on the inventory team or on the pricing team, and may be asked to transition from one group to the other.  As an inventory analyst, you will be responsible for managing the revenue for a basket of JetBlue markets, often representing more than $100 million of revenue under direct control. Within your market scope, and for each route, departure date, and specific flight, you will determine the optimal fare to sell at any given moment in time to maximize the flight’s revenue.  As a pricing analyst, you will be responsible for ensuring that JetBlue is always competitive in the highly dynamic world of airline pricing by monitoring industry pricing changes filed through a clearinghouse throughout the day, and determining and executing JetBlue’s response. You will also be responsible for working with the inventory team, to ensure that every market has an optimal pricing structure in place.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Query and analyze passenger ticketing data to gain market knowledge, and leverage that knowledge to inform future pricing decisions

  • Design and execute controlled fare tests to study customer price elasticity of demand

  • Effectively communicate the health of revenue performance to leadership and teammates

  • Learn and test implementations of revenue management theory and effect improvements on current business processes to enhance system-wide revenue performance

  • Provide cross-functional support to other teams including Network Planning, Loyalty, and Marketing

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field of study

  • One (1) plus years of analytical, quantitative or related academic coursework experience.

  • A proven interest in economics, mathematics, or business in schooling or prior work experience

  • A proven interest in airlines, aviation, or transportation systems in schooling or prior work experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or operations research

  • Master’s degree in business, computer science, engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or operations research

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Access and other database tools

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to tackle complex problems

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

  • Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance

  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
